Roberto Lazo, filmmaker and video editor, arms crossed against a light background

For the last three years I have been the post-production department for DogTV, a television network in the United States, working remotely from Madrid across edit, colour, sound, motion graphics, channel idents and delivery. I introduced generative video into their commercial output and rebuilt the workflow around it, including the National Dog Day campaign that ran on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square and the spots shown at Global Pet Expo in Miami.

I also founded Doble Zeta, a post-production studio in Madrid. I direct around thirty projects a year across six retained clients and lead a distributed team of five editors, setting the creative direction each of them works to and signing off every delivery.

Licenciado in Communication Sciences, trained as a photographer at the Escuela de Arte de Murcia, and Blackmagic-certified in DaVinci Resolve. I am looking for a full-time role, remote or on site in Madrid, leading creative and post for a company that takes generative video seriously.

HOW I RUN

A PRODUCTION

Brief, references and script. I set the look and the rules the piece has to hold to before anything is shot or generated.

1

Concept & direction

2

SHOOT & GENERATE

Live action on an FX3 where it earns its place, generated coverage where it does not, matched so the seams do not show.

3

DELIVERY & PIPELINE

Offline to online in DaVinci Resolve: grade, motion graphics, sound design and versions for every format the campaign needs.

4

EDIT, COLOR & SOUND

Masters to broadcast spec, and the workflow documented so the next person can run it without me.
